Way of the Samurai 3 not Xbox 360 - exclusive

The originally Japanese action-adventure game from Spike is coming to North America this year. Way of the Samurai was originally developed by Acquire for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms and was released in Japan in November, 2008 (PS3 version) and February 2009 (Xbox 360 version).

The North American versions of PS3 and Xbox 360 are confirmed but the release date is not yet announced. But, the games are expected to be released later this year. In February, UFO Interactive had announced that it would publish the game instead of Spike in North America. The buzz was that the game would be Xbox 360 exclusive as UFO is only licensed to put out Xbox 360 games. But the announcement about the PlayStation 3 version came with the news that Agtec will be handling the PS3 version of the game. Both the versions will be released simultaneously in North America.

As the original game fared well in Japan, a similar response is expected from the game in North America also. The game sold more than 100,000 units in the first week’s sale in Japan. The game was acclaimed by the critics circle in Japan too.

The latest game from the Way of the Samurai series will feature only single player mode and certain changes in the North American version of the game. The bonus content added exclusively for North American release will be available in both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the game.
