The Godfather 2, the PlayStation 3 game puts the movie to shame with the way it is presented. If the movie was a third grade action flick lacking any depth whatsoever, then this would be a faithful representation of what Copalla made. However, what we have here is a mindless shooter adventure game that lacks the depth of the movie it is taken from.
The chief character here is someone who has not been shown in the three blockbuster movies. You are ingrained with the ‘ethics’ and codes of the gangster family in question. You are on a career mode where you start off building respect and power for yourself in the streets and locales of New York. You go about trying to scare away and grab the property and businesses of as many rival gangster families as possible. However, although the initial few times you might find it fun to corner a family in its compound and then eliminate it, you will get bored soon with its same repetitive mechanism without much variety or twist.
Although you do have a good set of weapons and arsenal at your disposal in this game, with a few of them actually feeling real enough to do some damage, you will not enjoy using them. Simply put, the enemies here are not up to the mark with their intelligence, making them easy and unsatisfying to destroy.
This PlayStation 3 game would have done better to stay true to the core of the movie with some more thought.
