First launched in Europe with a different title, Cleopatra: Riddle of the Tomb (PC) now comes out to the world as an interesting non- conventional point- and- click game. For those of you who think what’s non- conventional in point- and- clicking will have to buy this game to understand that.
As an astrologer named Thomas, you are amidst the time when Cleopatra from Alexandria is fighting a battle against her husband and brother. Your true love Iris, and her father, chief astrologer Akkad are missing, and you move ahead to sort out as many things as you can. Your main mission is to obtain the oracle’s reading which will tell Cleopatra whether or not she needs to marry Julius Ceaser to save Egypt.
The storyline itself is so engaging and throws open various new missions and possibilities. You need to accomplish all these missions, and in the process, you actually see some real snippets from historical textbooks in the game. Most texts in the game are Greek to give a feel of that time, and Thomas travels through lighthouses and libraries, and passes sphinxes, pyramids and what not. You pick up a modern day horoscope zodiac symbol in the beginning of the game, and what follows next is a completely challenging experience with you decoding messages and manipulating objects to complete your mission.
