Gearbox-Halo incident

Rumors have been circulating over the internet that Gearbox is working on Halo 4. But, Halo WayPoint’s official Twitter account officially confirmed that Gearbox is not developing any such game for Microsoft.

Latest updates from Microsoft Game Studios include the appointment of director of technology at Gearbox- Corrinne Yu as Principle Engine Architect for Microsoft’s internal team to develop future Halo games. In an official statement, Microsoft has confirmed that they are assembling an internal team to develop future Halo projects as Halo franchise continuous to flourish.
Yu is a well-known Unreal Engine 3 expert and is expected to use all her knowledge and experience for developing any future Halo projects.

A rumor suggested that an internal deal between Bungie and Gearbox has resulted in shifting of Halo series to Gearbox Studios. In an interview later, Gearbox’s Randy Pitchford didn’t confirm or reject media reports. When asked directly, Pitchford promptly said that they are not going to talk about anything related to the issue.

The drama was finally cleared with Halo WayPoint Twitter account operator posting an official statement about non-existence of any such Halo game project. Experts believe that this is end of story for Gearbox. As Bungie has already declared that Halo: Reach will be their last Halo game, Microsoft will definitely try to hunt a new studio for their next Halo project.

Market experts believe that Microsoft Game Studios think that instead of hiring a studio, Microsoft should gather their own team to develop all future Halo projects in-house.
