Def Jam Rapstar is a forthcoming rap game which is currently being developed by Terminal Reality. It will be produced by the newly formed 4mm Games.
Out of the several music games available today, very few mainly feature hip hop. Def Jam Rapstar will surely treat the hip hop music fans. It appears that the developers will build a huge song list which will include classic as well as modern tracks. The team will also develop an online hub for the hip hop community fans. The players will be able to use a 30 second section to automatically upload their videos to their profile page after it has been saved. Players will be able to browse through other videos on the hub, rate and comment on other performers, and also challenge anyone from around the world.
During a performance, the lyrics will be displayed on the screen. The screen will also display a bar to match pitch. You will receive the score once you have completed your performance. This score will be based on the accuracy of the lyrics, timing, and pitch. For that Def Jam Rapstar is said to be using a highly advanced voice recognition technology. You could also have a picture of you singing during your performance if you had a camera plugged into your console. Along with solo performances you could also enjoy competitive duets, in the co-op mode.
Def Jam Rapstar is planned to be released in winter of 2009.
